Behind the Build: What’s Happening at Oceanfront Squamish

Squamish, BC – May 12, 2026 If you’ve been walking the shoreline lately, you’ve likely felt the hum of transformation in the air. While the community is already buzzing at House of Lager and enjoying the early spring views, there is a new chapter quietly beginning to unfold just behind the scenes. At Oceanfront Squamish, we’re peeling back the curtain on the next major milestone: the arrival of The Works neighborhood.

At the heart of this excitement is a project we internally refer to as ‘Lot O’. To the casual observer, it might just look like a coordinate on a map, but for the future of our community, it represents a massive leap forward in coastal living.

The Journey of The Works Rentals: What is a DP?

Currently, Lot O is in the “super early” planning stages, but it recently reached a critical fork in the road: the Development Permit (DP) has been officially submitted.

For those not steeped in the world of architecture and city planning, a Development Permit is essentially the bridge between a “big idea” and a physical building. While the initial zoning says what can be built (like a residential building), the DP is where the community and the District look at how it will look and function. It covers the aesthetics – the materials, the heights, the landscaping and how it fits into the natural Squamish environment.

Submitting a DP means we are moving past the “what if” phase and into the “here is exactly how we make this beautiful” phase. It is the moment the vision for Lot O starts to get its unique personality.

A Thoughtful Addition to The Works

Lot O isn’t just any collection of buildings; it is a flagship rental project designed to meet the real needs of our growing town. Oceanfront Squamish Developments has been hard at work ensuring this phase adds diversity to our housing offering. This cluster of thoughtfully designed buildings will feature over 240 rental homes, 70,000sf of ground floor employment space and a purpose built daycare building ensuring that more people can call the Oceanfront home.

Recognizing that “home” means something different to everyone, the layouts are incredibly varied with studios for the minimalist adventurer, one and two-bedroom units for young professionals and couples or spacious three-bedroom layouts designed specifically with families in mind.

What Happens Next?

Because Lot O is in these early stages, the community has the chance to watch the journey from the ground up. Now that the DP is with the District of Squamish, experts will review the plans to ensure they meet the high standards for sustainability and design that this special piece of land deserves.

As we move through the spring, keep your eyes on The Works. Lot O is more than just a letter on a blueprint, it’s a promise of more neighbors, more vibrant streets and a future where living by the water is accessible to all.
